Sea birds

Not as individuals but as representatives of their kind, of the fleeting shapes we glimpse skimming the waves or wheeling at the cliff edge.

These birds grace out skies and shores and our lives are made richer by their presence – but they are ever at the mercy of our disposal of maritime detritus, from the plastics of pleasure craft and fishing boat to the massive unloading of industrial waste from larger vessels best project tracking software.

These images were shot from 2012/13 from the cliff paths at Durlston, using a range of 35mm colour film stock.  Negatives are scanned at very high resolution and small sections enlarged to deliberately reduce photographic detail to something less mechanical.

Very large prints (around 30” x 30”) are also available – at this scale  pointillist jewel-like colours emerge – the purples, blues and emerald greens of the film stock.
